When you've got a quote in hand and want an independent view of what you're getting and how the price compares to the alternatives.

A quote is written by the people who stand to profit from it. There's nothing wrong with that — but it's exactly why it's worth having someone read it who doesn't.

I'll go through the proposal and tell you plainly how it looks. No outsider can tell you what the right price is — but a price can be put in perspective against other options and against what you're actually getting for it. Beyond that, I'll look at whether the scope fits what you need, and what's worth asking the supplier before you commit. I don't sell the systems I review and I have no stake in the deal — my only interest is that you make the right decision.
